BIRD WATCHING AND SAFARI

Reach Aqua Birds Unlimited Camp by an hour flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar airport and pick up from airport for an hour drive to the camp. The diverse landscape of Nepalese terrain, the spectacular view of the high himalaya, mountains, terraced hills, forest and cultivation of the plain keeps one occupied during the flight and drive. Another option is to arrive at the camp following the East West Highway and divert from Jarnuwa to the camp (2.5 km) at Kusaha.

Arrival and brief introduction of the facility and program by resident naturalist.

Bird walk in the marshland and field outside the reserve to see the storks, ibises, snipes, waterfowl, birds of prey etc.

Briefing on the natural history of the reserve followed by Nepali dinner.

Full day excursion on boat and four wheels drive with pack lunch to see waders, waterfowl, birds of prey, marsh crocodile, otters, wild water buffalo and Gangetic Dolphins including a walk along the eastern Embankment

 Continue bird watching or optional elephant ride to watch Arna the wild water buffalo, blue bull, hog deer, fishing etc.

Proceed to deciduous forest near Chatara on four wheel drive to see racquet tailed drongo golden backed woodpeckers, pied hornbills, leaf birds, red-thighed falconet etc. with pack lunch (full day).

Bird walk inside the reserve in the scrub forest, grasslands and wetland habitat towards Madhuban to see swamp partridge, black-necked stork, buntings, bulbuls etc. and drive back to camp for lunch.

 Continue bird watching or optional Jhanagad village walk to see the life style of the lowland ethnic group of people.

Drive to Koshi barrage with picnic lunch. This time of year we may see hundreds of waders, ducks & others birds resting at the barrage area while on their way back to their breeding ground in center Asia.

Drive tro Dharan/Bijayapur Hills to experience the culture and lifestyle of lowland people. It include visit to the pilgrim site such as Danta Kali, Budha Subba and Pindeswari.

 Proceed to Bhedetar a hill station situated on the way to Dhankuta

3.30 p.m.

 Leisure or bird watching around the camp area.
